OCP now compatible with IE 8

Testament of Job updated

Ian W. Scott has released the "the absolutely final corrected" version 1.14 of the Testament of Job.

Online Critical Pseudepigrapha changing hosts

Following Ken M. Penner's move to St. Francis Xavier University, the Online Critical Pseudepigrapha has also changed hosts. The change should be transparent to users who are using the Permanent URL, http://purl.org/net/ocp as soon as the PURL database is updated. Those who had bookmarked the acadiau.ca site are advised to update their bookmarks.

Testament of Job updated

Ian W. Scott has issued an update to the OCP's Testament of Job, correcting several typos in the transcription of Brock's edition.

New server for the OCP

The Online Critical Pseudepigrapha is now being hosted on a new server, with new capabilities. Watch for improvements in the next months as we implement exciting changes to the user interface!

t.job 25:9, the two consecutive Job's both have graves in Kraft.
27:2,5 — Job should also have grave in Kraft's reading.
30:3 Kraft reading πιστευομεν ὅτι is missing acute over upsilon
30:7 ὑπάρχοντά , Kraft's text only has an acute on the final alpha (not sure about the others though)

The Vision of Ezra

The editors of The Online Critical Pseudepigrapha are pleased to announce the publication of a new document, the Vision of Ezra. Although its provenance is uncertain, this Latin text is closely related to 4 Ezra (2 Esdras) and other Ezra pseudepigrapha. This new edition, edited by Ian W. Scott and David M. Miller, reproduces the text of manuscript Vat. Barberini lat. 2318. This manuscript, first published in 1984 by P.-M. Bogaert, is the fullest form of the document to survive. Since this manuscript was not available during the preparation of Charlesworth's Old Testament Pseudepigrapha, it contains material which is not included in the standard English translation by J. R. Mueller and G. A. Robbins. If Bogaert is correct, though, this manuscript represents the oldest extant form of the Vision of Ezra. This OCP edition of the Latin text is published without critical apparatus, but including the emendations suggested by Bogaert.

Revised Cleodemus Malchus

Ian Scott has completed the proofreading of the Cleodemus Malchus fragment (www.purl.org/net/ocp/ClMal.html) and has added an expanded introductory page for the text.

Updated 2 Baruch

Ian Scott has completed revisions to the Greek fragments of 2 (Syriac) Baruch (www.purl.org/net/ocp/2Bar.html). These revisions include a newly expanded introductory page, as well as a new layout of the Greek fragments which shows more clearly how the lines appear on the recto and verso of P.Oxy. 403.

Updated Aristobulus

Ian Scott has just completed an updated version of Aristobulus (www.purl.org/net/ocp/Aristob.html). This update includes an expanded introductory page with full bibliographic information for the published sources of the Aristobulus fragments. The Grammateus reader interface has also been upgraded to allow the poetic quotations in the Artapanus fragments to be displayed in proper versified form.

The OCP moves to PURL

The OCP site is now accessible through the permanent address www.purl.org/net/ocp. This is a PURL or Persistent URL which will remain active indefinitely. The actual OCP files are stored on servers elsewhere. Presently these are located at The University of Western Ontario, but this summer they will be moving to the servers of Acadia Divinity College. With the PURL address in place, however, users can access the OCP files through one permanent URL despite these sorts of moves from one institution to another. All published references to the OCP documents should cite the new PURL address, not the actual location of the files (visible in your browser's navigation bar). This will allow future readers to access the cited files, even if unforseen circumstances force another move to different servers.

New Apocryphon of Ezekiel Published

A new, more complete edition of the Apocryphon of Ezekiel, edited by Ian Scott, has now been published to the OCP site.

Artapanus now fully proofread

The surviving fragments of Artapanus have now been proofread, and in the process one correction has been made to Holladay's 1983 printed text.

Two more texts now fully proofread

Two more texts on the OCP site have now been fully proofread and may be treated as reliable: 2 Baruch (the Greek fragments) and the surviving fragment of Eldad and Modad. More proofreading will be completed soon.

More texts published

Five more texts have been published this week in preliminary editions. These provide one text-type in Greek without textual variants. Of these, only the text of Theodotus has been proofread so far. The new texts include:

Upgrades to the Grammateus user interface

An upgraded user interface has recently been posted on the OCP site. The interface now allows users to select specific chapter/verse ranges for viewing. Users can also now produce a printer-friendly version of text displayed in the main reading window. Where texts have a critical apparatus, users now click on the main-text to view variants (instead of simply mousing over the text). This last change will help the interface to be more stable in general and will also allow users to retain variants in the apparatus window while they perform mouse operations elsewhere on the screen.
